Hebrews
This New Testament letter, written between 60-70AD to Jewish believers, addresses a spectrum of theological concepts, centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. The overarching message though is one of encouragement for those who are tired, tried, or otherwise tempted to “shrink back” and return to their former life. Admittedly, none of us fit the profile of “1st century Jewish Christian,” but we can all agree that all of us get weary. We all experience struggles in our faith. We’re all tempted - in ways too numerous to count - to transfer our trust from Christ alone, to any number of other people, places or things which compete for our affection and attention.
